NNPC LIMITED GROUP EXECUTIVE COUNCIL (GEC) OF NUPENG SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDES ITS 6TH QUADRENNIAL DELEGATES' CONFERENCE IN ABUJA

In accordance with the democratic traditions and constitutional provisions of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), the NNPC Limited Group Executive Council (GEC) of the Union organised and successfully concludes its 6th Quadrennial Delegates’ Conference held at the Dome Hall, Top Rank Hotel Galaxy, Utaka, Abuja with the theme “Strengthening labour-management collaboration for sustainable growth of the Nigeria’s oil and gas industry”.

The occasion, which brought together key stakeholders in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, was chaired by the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, who was represented by Mr. Kazachiyang Nuhu, Chief Human Resources Officer at NNPC Limited Corporate Headquarters. In his address, Mr. Nuhu commended the NUPENG GEC and the National leadership of the Union for their exemplary cooperation and disciplined approach to industrial relations. He reassured the Union of the management’s unwavering commitment to open dialogue, emphasizing that channels of communication remain accessible for mutual engagement anchored on trust and respect. He further urged delegates not only to participate in the electoral process but also to remain united beyond the elections for the collective good of the company and the nation.

Delivering his remarks, Comrade Salimon Akanni Oladiti, Executive President of NUPENG—ably represented by Comrade Akinwole Ebenezer Oladejo, Deputy President—applauded the NNPC Limited management under Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari for fostering a culture of industrial harmony that has set a benchmark in the oil and gas industry. He also paid tribute to the outgoing NNPC Limited NUPENG GEC for their exemplary, blemish-free tenure, describing their leadership as worthy of emulation.

In his address, Comrade Baba Usman Kaumi, outgoing Group Chairman of the GEC, reflected on the journey of the past four years. He extended heartfelt appreciation to the management of NNPC Limited, the past and present leadership of NUPENG, and his colleagues for their unwavering support, guidance, and cooperation, without which their achievements would not have been possible.

A pivotal moment of the conference was the presentation of a paper by Mr. Sulaiman Sulaiman, Manager of Employee Relations at NNPC Limited Corporate Headquarters. He spoke on the theme “Strengthening Labour-Management Collaboration for Sustainable Growth and Industrial Harmony in Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Industry”.

He concluded his insightful presentation with this his quote “harmony is not the absence of disagreement. It is the presence of dialogue”.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITION

In a spirit of appreciation, excellence awards were presented to distinguished dignitaries who graced the event, including management representatives and union leaders such as the GCEO NNPC Limited, EVP-Business Services NNPC Ltd., Mrs. Mbakwe Sophia, Executive President of NUPENG, Acting General Secretary of NUPENG, outgoing GEC Chairman, and several others.

NEW GROUP EXECUTIVE COUNCIL ELECTED

The business session of the conference saw the election of a new Group Executive Council leadership. Comrade Paulosa O. Paulosa from NNPC Exploration and Production Limited (NEPL) emerged as the new Group Executive Council (GEC) Chairman, alongside other newly elected council members.

Other elected members of the GEC include;

  3. Comrade West B. Blessing, Group Treasurer
  4. Comrade Owate Abbey, Group Trustee

  6. Comrade Ukoma Nathaniel Ime, Group Auditor
  7. Comrade Omaenikun Michael, Group PRO
  8. Comrade Mairam B. Garba, Group Welfare
  9. Comrade Shettima S. Lawal, Group Financial Secretary
  10. Comrade Acora Raymond, Group Chief Whip

In addition, the following were appointed as adviser and ex-officio of the Group Council

  2. Comrade Michael Udoh, Ex-officio
