NUPENG LEADERSHIP WELCOME NATIONAL ORIENTATION AGENCY (NOA) DIRECTOR GENERAL AND MANAGEMENT TEAM ON ADVOCACY VISIT

Lagos, Nigeria – 17th February 2025.
The National President of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Comrade (Prince) Williams Akporeha, along with the General Secretary Comrade Afolabi Olawale and other Union leaders, warmly received Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), and his management team at the National Secretariat (NUPENG Tower) during a courtesy and advocacy visit.
The visit aimed to foster collaboration with stakeholders to implement the directive of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, focused on raising public awareness about the severe risks and environmental dangers associated with scooping fuel from fallen tankers.
During the visit, NUPENG leadership and the NOA agreed to collaborate in sensitizing the public in line with the President’s mandate, emphasizing that no Nigerian life or property should be lost in such accident circumstances. They also concurred that poverty should not justify engaging in the dangerous act of scooping fuel from fallen tankers.
The NUPENG leaders reiterated their appeal to the Federal Government to urgently repair deteriorating sections of all Federal highways, which significantly contributes to these unfortunate incidents. They also called on government regulatory agencies to rise to their responsibilities. Expressing their readiness to cooperate with the NOA to achieve the set objectives, the NUPENG leadership also advocated for designated and well-equipped tanker parks along highways for drivers.
In response, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director General of NOA, expressed his gratitude to the NUPENG leadership and members for their sacrifices and willingness to collaborate in achieving the safety directives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
Both leaders ceased the opportunity to explore areas of collaboration and cooperation.
Other NUPENG leaders at the meeting includes Comrade Solomon Kilanko – Deputy President, Comrade Salimon Oladiti – National Trustee, Comrade Anthony Chukwu – Deputy General Secretary (F&A), Comrade Otite Onohwohwo – Deputy General Secretary (SD), Comrade Tayo Aboyeji – NUPENG Lagos Zonal Chairman.
Other National Orientation Agency (NOA) Management present at the meeting includes Mr. Tukur Adedeji Mustapha – Director, NOA Lagos State, Barr. Theresa Nnalue – Director, Community Safety, Awareness and Compliance, Mrs. Olubukola Olorunfemi – Director, Community Outreach and Development.
