Comrade Afolabi Olawale Holds The Ace As NUPENG General Secretary

By Emmanuel Ajibulu

The apt, lucid, well measured and intelligent response as well as clarifications this morning on Ray Power Radio by the General Secretary of NUPENG, Comrade Olawale Afolabi to Kayode Opeifa, Vice Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on restoration of law and order in Apapa is highly commendable as Nigerians react positively on the social media.

The consummate administrator inspite of the limited time on the radio programme corrected the negative insinuations that the public might probably have about NUPENG and further reiterated that the oil workers are not strike mongers, affirming that the Union will always stand in defense of its member no matter whose ox is gored.

The General Secretary also gave reasons why it became necessary for the Petroleum Tanker Drivers to call off their strike on Monday August 10, 2020 in less than 24 hours of commencement, having seen positive, genuine and convincing response from the Lagos state Government to address the issues raised by the Union on their press statement on Friday.

More striking take home from the radio interview was the General Secretary’s firmness, doggedness and cerebral disposition during the discussion while also stressing that NUPENG is the most organized Union in the country with emphasis on ‘discipline’ on the part of its members.

The Wednesday outing on the radio show was a reflection of true Leadership that one can be proud of, showing capacity, competence and commitment to engender industrial peace and harmony in the overall interest of the country. Ssolidarity forever.
