With him in jubilant mood at the Union’s National Secretariat in Jibowu, Lagos were the President of the Union, Comrade (Prince) Williams Eniredonana Akporeha, National Chairman of Petroleum Tanker Drivers Branch of NUPENG, Comrade (Otunba) Salimon  Akanni Oladiti and the entire members of the National Executive Council (NEC), the highest organ of the Union.

It was indeed an important and momentous occasion greeted with far reaching celebrations, prayers, encomiums and thanksgiving to God Almighty for a fresh milestone for the chief celebrant.

The birthday of Comrade Afolabi was indeed a day of manifold blessings as it coincided with the meeting of the NEC as well as world press conference by the Union’s President which focused on state of the nation. Incidentally, the occasion marked his first appearance to sit as the substantive General Secretary of the Union at such meetings.

Reaching this rung in NUPENG (the apex seat) by any human standard or estimation is no easy reach. It’s a height reached by rare grace and privilege, especially for a technocrat like him, who had paid his dues and whom God has used to affect many lives far and near and who by choice has given most of his life and time to the betterment and greater good of the Union for more than two decades.

The strength of intervention is not in numeracy, but in the quality of life Comrade Olawale Afolabi has lived up to this page. He is an illustrious dad whose shade of paternity differs from the usual. He is a rare gift both as a caring father and a consummate friend of the vulnerable groups. For those whose parts have crossed his, the testimonies abound about the much that God has helped him to do to help mankind with no recourse to pecuniary gains.

His timely roll-out of Training, Workshops and relevant Educational interventions for the members and staff of the Union had clinically healed many sores bedeviling the image of the Union and had positioned the Union for excellence, positive results, distinction and merit. Besides, these had largely resulted in performance enhancements on their respective jobs, greater understanding of their responsibilities within their roles, as well as building their confidence and engendering industry standards.

Impressively, he is yet untiring in his consummate passion for public service and in taking NUPENG to the already envisaged ‘Next Level’, meeting targets and breaking barriers.

There is no gain saying, Comrade Afolabi remains a gift, not only to his families and associates, he’s an asset to the body of Labour movement in general, both locally and internationally.

Congratulations on your special day, your friends, colleagues, family members and those you mentor in the Union are pleased to thank and appreciate you for everything. It is a great satisfaction for the Union having you in its lead which has attracted great admiration from the Union’s social partners and stakeholders.

As the world celebrates you as labour leader of note, they also extend their hearty supplication to God that with this latest milestone, your life and those of your loved ones would be bright and blessed with happiness and fulfillment with no sorrow or disappointments.
