The National leadership of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) profoundly felicitates with Nigeria’s former Head of State (1966–75), General Yakubu Gowon (GCFR) on the occasion of his glorious and impactful 85th birthday anniversary.

On this auspicious moment of your life, the reminiscences of your bravery , commitment and indispensable service to keep Nigeria as one strong united and indivisible entity, and also for protecting our national sovereignty, remain applaudable in the annals of our nationhood.

We sincerely appreciate and celebrate your enviable patriotic roles in the affairs of our nation both locally and internationally, particularly in engendering political stability, socio-economic advancement as well as preaching the message of peaceful co-existence and national cohesion without bias or prejudice. There is hardly any major episode in Nigeria’s history and existence where your name and contribution would not positively and prominently resonate.

NUPENG can never forget, neither would we take for granted your unflinching support, encouragement and advice which contributed to the success of our 40th anniversary as a trade Union, an epochal event which essentially reflected NUPENG’s struggles, trials, successes and triumphs over the past four decades as well as hope for the future. Therefore celebrating you at a time like this is deserving and worthwhile.

As you age gracefully, the Oil and Gas workers will continue to look up to you for guidance and counsel to achieve our set objectives in entrenching decent and gainful employment for our members as well as upholding their rights and welfare.

It is our prayer that God Almighty will continue to endow you with sound health and grant you the strength to give your best to your family and the nation at large.
