NUPENG URGES MARKETERS TO COMPLY WITH NEW PETROL PRICE

NUPENG URGES MARKETERS TO COMPLY WITH NEW PETROL PRICE The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has urged petroleum oil marketers to comply with the new pump price of petrol at N87.00per litre It states that it noticed that most of the filling stations are still dispensing fuel at the old rate of N97.00 per litre or not selling fuel at all. It adds that it amounts to total dis-service for the oil marketers to continue to sell fuel at the old rate, thus exploiting the consumers. NUPENG however commends the federal government for bringing down the price of petroleum products in line with the falling prices of crude oil in the international market. It states that the federal government should put other measures in place to cushion the inflationary effects of the fall of crude oil. The union enjoins the federal government to speed up the Turn-Around-Maintenance (TAM) of the nation’s four refineries, instead of the dependence of massive importation of petroleum products that is depleting the scare foreign exchange. The union also calls on the federal government to establish more refineries and encourage private developers to do same.
